My name is Tim and I have been cycling more seriously now for about 6 years. I’ve enjoyed many different kinds of rides – some long distance, some races and many casual rides along the way, but one of my favorite rides had to be one I just completed this summer when I had the chance to ride up Pikes Peak in Colorado. Reaching the top after about three and a half hours of climbing was quite a satisfying feeling – so satisfying that I celebrated with a couple donuts only made at the shop at Pikes Peak at 14,000 feet. Beyond the challenge of individual riding, I have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to meet and ride with dozens and dozens of riders over the years, meeting so many people who otherwise I would never have gotten to know. My wife Jen and I have been married for 18 years and we have three children, 14, 12, and 10. I very much enjoy spending time with the family, playing and watching sports, reading and coaching youth soccer. I have been involved in efforts to alleviate poverty since I began as pastor at Grace Point Church in Paradise in 2003. Through The Together Initiative and our partnership with the United Way our hope is to see our community increasingly see one another as peers, friends and partners in the journey of life and help each other build a stronger and more sustainable community. We want to provide ways for neighbors to help neighbors regardless of background, class, belief, etc. and rise out of poverty and poverty related issues. I look forward to this year’s ride to Orlando to help raise awareness for The Together Initiative and our local community!
